As part of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications Global Leaders in Digital & Social Media Speaker Series, I had the opportunity last week to hear (twice) from Chuck Hemann, Group Director, Analytics for W20 Group. Hemann spoke at Syracuse University for a night with #NewhouseGLDSM on the topic of how “Red Bull, The Hershey Company, and Intel Turn Big Data Into Competitive Advantage.” He discussed how companies use analytics to turn big data into actionable insights about their audiences to gain competitive advantage. Hemann covered a range of topics from the “1, 9, 90 Rule” to the “4A’s” and “5W’s.”
